Sometimes during OSINT (open source intelligence) investigations, we might opt to switch security levels in Tor Browser - as this can harden your browsing experience (or otherwise un-break websites on more strict settings).

The problem being, countless websites rely on javascript.

And so the safest security settings may not load a page at all.

And otherwise, on a more unknown website - we may want to ensure the highest security settings are turned on.

I wanted to share my simple idea to help you use any Tor Browser security level, anytime you want - even all at once (separate windows).

I may expand on this in the future - make sure to subscribe / follow so you don't miss anything.

The risk here is, stock tor browser windows all appear the same - don't mix up those windows, or you might be using the wrong one!

We start by creating profiles for tor browser.

Each profile is then set to a different security level - and labelled for their relationship to each security level.

Finally, we create automated shortcuts for these browser profiles right on our desktop - that way, anytime we need to switch security levels, we just double click the one we wish to use, and the window pops right up for us.

What alarms me is does this also threaten our right to even enable disappearing messages for Signal encrypted messenger?

Would this make Apple iPhone users liable for the security feature that wipes devices on 10 misentered password attempts?

The reality is, our rights are DIFFERENT in the 100 mile vicinity around USA border - all the way around the country.

If you live in that zone, you may be legally searched in some cases.

Of course, this advice is only intended for 100% innocent individuals, and is about understanding our right to even use security on our devices.

Which is highly alarming.

While likely also make bracelet for Tails, this one is my design to share with you all.

After recent coldboot video, sharing bracelet design for Tails disk. Update: Many likely doing similar: after seeing usbport pullout feature on Tails - this is my personal design. While planned video for a while, a bit over a week ago shared this idea with a friend here - another layer of safety layer for tails amnesiac usbstick usage against coldboot attacks. EXAMPLE: If pulled away from computer - Tails usbstick pulls itself out of computer, overwriting RAM / memory with random data - in turn protecting you from cold boot attacks.

Not only that, you can very easily jumpstart the process by simply moving arm away from computer, shutting down Tails automatically while overwriting RAM with random data for anti forensic benefit to journalists and more.

This concept / idea is perfect for traveling Journalists, activists, OSINT investigators, and nearly anyone using Tails for legal / ethical purposes, with the additional protection of being on a bracelet. Ensuring anytime you feel the need, you can simply pull your arm away from the computer, and BOOM, Tails shuts down immediately, while overwriting RAM with random data - to protect you against coldboot attacks.

TailsOS is unique Torified Linux: providing both metadata cleaning tools AND running completely off memory- it requires no hard drive and this provides an anti-forensic advantage to Investigative Journalists, OSINT, Human Rights activists, and anyone else needing to protect their work/identity.

Later on, after cryptome, he helped in founding wikileaks.

in his professional, John was an Architect. Making his mark in aesthetics there.

John Young is survived by his Partner Deborah Natsios. Our thoughts are with her and his family.

The compromise gave this hacker access to all of the contact information, and even the communications message contents in plaintext.

SignalGate Update: Not only were officials using Signal to discuss Yemen operations, it now gets worse. They were using a clone of the Signal client which archived all chat communications -

It's interesting to see the Signalgate update after recently covering the ghost method for archiving or adding 3rd party to end-to-end encrypted chats. This is where a 3rd party silently joins the chat - we share hypothetical risks depending upon implementation - Florida also has a new law threatening encryption. Age verification may affect our privacy / anonymity given both adults and underage would be required to identify themselves to verify age.

One of the concerns for encryption being compromised would be the hypothetical scenario of someone planting files in a conversation - this would present the most serious concern IMHO, given the potentially detrimental effect this could hold on fair trials.

We have to ask ourselves if we are willing to trade rights for the promise of increased security, and if those promises could even be kept to begin with.

This tutorial / guide is intended to be easy to follow. To help anyone interested in BusKill on any encrypted Linux setup.

udev (linux device management) allows us to detect when our buskill is disconnected, allowing us to program any action we wish to take upon that disconnect.

Buskill offers the pre-written, ready to use luks encryption header shredder script. On its own detecting the luks device, and immediately shredding the header! - making any luks volume inoperable. All sensitive files undiscovered.

Attach BusKill to belt loop or bracelet. Finally, most people may want to use the more user friendly / graphical application options that come on buskill: opening the app allows us to select whether we want buskill to shutdown the computer, lock the screen - in an easy to use app.

Buskill app comes preincluded for security reasons - within the graphical application you can arm buskill to either lock the screen, or shutdown the computer.

We use udev to configure buskill to shred the luks header, making our encrypted Linux volume, inaccessible.

Buskill is laptop killcord. If ever pulled away from your laptop, or, your laptop is ever pulled away from you, buskill's magnetic connector detects this, automatically taking action to either: wipe the encryption, shutdown the computer, or: locking the screen.

While Whonix does not come with the same protection Tails offers for cold boot attacks, you can modify your set up to add similar protection offered by Tails for anti-forensic defense.
